As award season begins to enter its full swing this year, many of us sat through the three hours of the Golden Globe Award show last night. It was a fun show and here are just a few of my comments:
Nikki Glazer’s opening monologue was hilarious and I though somewhat risky as she poked fun at CBS while hosting a show ON CBS. Er…are we going back to being tolerant and maybe laughing at ourselves again? What a novel idea!
We will know what they really thought about it by who hosts the Globes next year. LOL
Teyana Taylor!!! My girl!!! Looking absolutely gorgeous, she totally won that Globe and gave a beautiful and inspiring acceptance speech. A true high light of the night.
JLaw and JLo’s naked, I mean, “sheer” dresses…er…hellooooo!!!!
I can only dream of wearing anything like that! And I am the same age as JLo!! Hey, maybe I should make that my new year’s resolution: to wear one of those dresses HA!
After seeing an interview with Chloe Zhao, I became quite a fan of her person so I was happy for her that Hamnet had such a successful evening. (I have not seen it yet, but by the look of everything I have seen, I am sure it deserved the wins). I was not so much of a Nomadland fan back in 2020, so I was doubtful, but Chloe has won me over. 😃
It might have been my imagination, but I really enjoyed the songs that played people on to and off of the stage. Great choices. Was it always that way and I just never noticed?? Hmm!
Still on the subject of stage music; My one beef of the night was when the Brazilian film The Secret Agent won for Best Foreign Language Film and they were played off the stage before they were done. Of the whole night, they were the ONLY ones rushed off the stage and that did not prevent the show from lasting 20 minutes longer than planned. I felt that was disrespectful, rude and totally uncalled for. 😡
Luckily, their lead actor won for the film in his category and was able to say all he had to say, including sending greetings home to Brazil in Portuguese.
Ending my comments on a good note, I love it when actors bring their parents to these things. Michael B Jordan’s mom was looking as much like celebrity as her son. Glowing with her grey curls and her elegant pant suit with a matching and bedazzled cane. Go on now! She was looking hot!
Nah, I don’t need to fit into the JLo or JLaw dress afterall. I want to be like Mama MBJ when I grow up! Beautiful, Elegant and most of all, Realistically True! 😉
