“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”
This quote has been attributed to Albert Einstein but the Internet is rife with arguments that these words are not his.
No matter!
Regardless of who said these words, they came to me today and were welcome because they are a reminder to be grateful for absolutely everything in life, for life itself.
Today we had a snow storm.
Last night the media filled us with fear and foreboding about the treacherous storm that was about to destroy everything in its path. Schools and workplaces were shut in advance. Long lines ran round the block at grocery stores as people bought all their emergency food supplies. Everyone prepared.
And everyone complained.
It’s March..why is it still winter?…
Another storm? More shoveling, ugh!…
The city is shutting down? Oh no, but I need to do this and that, and now I can’t…
And so on and so forth.
Well, though we did have a snow storm, it was not as bad as had been predicted. Instead of 18 inches of snow, we had 6. And guess what?
That’s right…we complained!!
This is what they call a Blizzard?? This is barely even a storm!,
Is this what we closed the schools for?? We could have gone to work.
Where is all the snow they promised? I thought we could go out sledding, this is more ice than snow.
Ugh, it is so wet and cold outside.
More shoveling!!!
We are habitual complainers!
I don’t know if humans have always been this way, but there is no doubt that it is definitely who we are nowadays. We need to complain and be dissatisfied or we are not normal. Society requires us to bitch and moan about something, anything, but there must be something.
If you are happy and go lucky…you are probably on something.
But then think about the saying I opened with.
What about the miracles??? What if every thing is a miracle? Maybe we would be in awe more often instead of complaining.
We are alive! It snows! We get to experience snow! We get to feel cold, or wet and we come inside and enjoy warmth.
We drink a cup of hot chocolate and cuddle up in front of a movie. TV? How amazing. Cable? Wow! Streaming?? OMG!
We get a snow day off! An unplanned vacation day! Yay!
A day away from the office! Time to have some fun with the kids! Yippee!
We are strong enough to shovel snow. Watch how amazingly your arms lift the shovel full of snow, how your back supports you, how strong your legs are. How perfectly everything works together. The human body is the most amazing machine of all.
Look at the snow….how does that even happen??? Tiny amazingly perfect flakes of ice falling from the sky…if that isn’t a miracle, I don’t know what is.
Look around you. Look at every little mundane everyday thing and be amazed at what a miracle everything really is.
It just makes you say, Wow! and Thank you! over and over and over again.
And what a positive and wonderful place that is to be in – a place of awe and gratitude – every single day in every moment.
Now that is living a miracle. I like that!

As a tribute to all women, I dedicate or re-dedicate this awesomest of songs – Woman by John Lennon; an inspired man speaking the truth of woman-ness that we should all speak to our Mothers, Sisters, Wives, Lovers, Daughters, Aunties, Friends, Colleagues and most especially to ourselves.
Pay attention to the lyrics…love yourself, forgive yourself, trust yourself, be yourself…
Woman, you ARE!!!
I love you, now and forever…

I did really good today!
We often talk about the benefits of remaining in an Attitude of Gratitude and maintaining a positive mindset. We know this is good, but we do not always do it….at least I know I don’t.
Even though I preach it and coach it. I fall off like everyone else.
But today, I did really good!
I got up and checked the weather only to see that it was going to rain all day. Not my favorite prediction. It adds extra baggage when taking the kids to school – umbrellas, ponchos, boots/shoes etc. etc. etc. And it is such a pain walking the kids to school…they walk so slowly, they can’t balance the umbrellas and the bags, they want to play in the rain, and I am concerned about keeping them and their school bags dry. Over all, it is just a stressful experience. So needless to say, my immediate response is usually….well, let’s just say, not a positive one.
But today I instead said “Thank you for the rain” and went ahead and made all the necessary preparations for our soaking walk through the rain.
We stepped out of the house and it was drizzling very lightly as we walked to the Subway Station. No problem at all.
Getting out at the other end and walking to school…light drizzle. So light, we didn’t even need the umbrellas.
It did rain all day!!
But by the time I headed out of the office to go pick up the kids….guess what? No rain!
How awesome was that? Every time I was out doors, it was dry. And yet, all needs were met – the earth got the moisture it needed and I got to take the kids to school, go to work, pick the kids up and come back home without getting soaked or being stressed about getting soaked. HA!
It is said that when you have a fear of something, you should face it! Walk right up to the fear! And it will disappear.
It is also said that what you resist, persists.
Ok, I am not afraid of rain, but I guess I was “afraid” of the inconvenience and stress. But I walked right up to it and instead of “resisting” it, I gave thanks for it. And look at what happened. No stress!! No real inconvenience. For me, No Rain! (Even though it rained all day)
So there you go. Tomorrow is another day. Let’s start it with Gratitude and a Positive Attitude and see where the day takes us.
Write a comment to let us know how it turns out.
Be inspired.
Not a day goes by that we don’t wake up to a new and scary headline.
Trump can certainly steal and trademark the “Shock and Awe”slogan from the Bush era.
We are protesting, We are making our voices heard wherever we can, we are yelling louder than ever. Great!…but beware!!!!…Negative emotions are riding HIGH!
We must be cautious! We must be vigilant!
We must guard our hearts!
The words of Dr. Martin Luther King ring truer now than ever.

We must guard our hearts against Hatred. For there in lies the danger!!

In return for the craziness, we must give Love!
We must keep our hearts and minds on Love! Lest we be pulled into the darkness from whence all the chaos arises. That is not the place for us. From there, we can make no changes for the better.
We must remain tall and strong, with our heads held high knowing that Right will always overcome Wrong. and Love will always prevail.
In Love then, let us continue to protest, let us work in our communities to build support, let us write, sing, dance, speak out and do all we can because remember…

It is done!

Donald J. Trump is the new president of the United States of America.
I am a believer in the Law of Attraction and knowing that you attract what you focus on (which is probably part of how Donald Trump became president anyway…Media gave him entirely too much play) I believe it is time the protests AGAINST Trump as President come to an end. We are not going to change the fact that he is the president. He is the President. Period!
We have no choice but to accept this reality and we now we have to find ways to work WITH him to get what we want.
It is time to stop protesting AGAINST him, and start making our voices heard FOR what we want.
So as we go out tomorrow for the Women’s March on Washington and everywhere, let us focus on WHAT WE WANT. Let us raise our voices FOR women.
And even after the march. Let us not remain silent! Let us continue to sing and shout and march FOR all that we stand for, ‘Keeping our Eyes on the Prize’, as the song goes, until we are heard.
After the march, do not go and sit quietly in your home. Go and volunteer with your local government, Go and help women in need. Like Obama said in his farewell address, get a clipboard and get involved!!! Be an Active Citizen – in your community, in your country, in the world. Your involvement matters!
We Matter! Women Matter!
That is what we must focus on!
Be Inspired!

May peace and love prevail!
